BMW's M division is no stranger to working with the automaker's most powerful models. Last year, it gave the M5 a facelift that included a completely new front end. 

To make the 2021 M5 facelift more dynamic, BMW tweaked its most powerful M division car's exterior design.

Until the introduction of the BMW M8 , The BMW M5 has always been the top dog of the Munich-based automaker's M division. It's a beast that comes with plenty of power, thanks to its 4.4 litre V8 engine that churns out 600 horsepower and 553 pound-feet of torque. This allows it to reach a top speed of 190 miles per hour (305 kilometres per hour) and go from 0 to 62 miles per hour (100 kilometres per hour) in just 3.1 seconds!

This facelift includes several exterior design changes such as a new front bumper, rear bumper with diffuser, new wheels .

This is the second and most significant change, as it's a deviation from what we've seen before. The standard 20-inch wheels and optional 21s are both new for the facelifted model. These wheels are lighter than their predecessors, which should improve handling and acceleration. They're also more aerodynamic while also featuring an exclusive design that gives the car a more premium look than its predecessor.

New Exhaust Placement

The third major difference is the revised exhaust system, which now features four tips instead of two like on previous models. The M division's signature quad exhaust pipes are a bit lower on the M5's new rear bumper. This was done to make room for the wider rear track, which required moving the back axle forward.

The quad-pipe configuration is not identical to that of its predecessor because the new car's control arms and suspension system have been reworked. However, it still offers four outlets for better engine breathing and has an aggressive look with matching side sills and a diffuser section underneath.

Interior Upgrades

The interior of the facelifted BMW M5 features a three-spoke steering wheel with buttons for its optional comfort access system and a revised instrument cluster. It also comes equipped with an optional head-up display and high-gloss piano black trim finishes throughout the cabin, which includes carbon fibre accents on the centre console.
